What is a blocked account?
A blocked account serves as proof of financial means for foreign students during their stay in Germany and is one of the most important requirements for obtaining a student visa.
The account is called a “blocked account” because the money deposited into it cannot be withdrawn until the account holder has arrived in Germany and activated the account. The monthly withdrawal amount is specified in the blocking agreement when the account is opened.
